The anime will be directed by Production Reed's Akitoshi Yokoyama. The series composition will be handled by Natsuko Takahashi while Syuichi Iseki is the character designer and chief animation director. The series is to commemorate creator Go Nagai's 50th anniversary as a manga artist.The idol unit AŌP will perform the series' opening theme, "Ai ga Nakucha Tatakaenai", and the singer Luz will perform the ending theme, "Sister".   The series premiered in Japan on April 8, 2018 on AT-X, Tokyo MX and BS11. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series and is simulcasting it in North, Central and South America, Oceania, the British Isles, South Africa, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain, and Portugal; they are scheduled to also publish a home video release of the series.
